A life shaped by Jiu-Jitsu
Prisma begins with Leandro Vieira’s childhood in Brazil and a family whose relationship with Jiu-Jitsu grew into a lifetime of learning, competition, teaching, and leadership.
The story of Prisma
Prisma is the result of a lifetime on the mat, an international coaching journey, and a Morgan Hill community that chose to grow together.

Our name and our purpose
The academy’s purpose is larger than producing techniques, belts, or tournament results. Prisma exists to help people become more capable—physically, mentally, and in the way they relate to others.
Prisma begins with Leandro Vieira’s childhood in Brazil and a family whose relationship with Jiu-Jitsu grew into a lifetime of learning, competition, teaching, and leadership.
Alongside his brothers Léo and Ricardo Vieira, Leandro helped build Checkmat—an international team known for technical innovation, serious training, and a culture that develops people as well as competitors.
Leandro’s work at American Kickboxing Academy brought his Jiu-Jitsu into the highest levels of combat sports. The experience sharpened a teaching approach built on precision, adaptability, and calm problem-solving.
Prisma was created to bring that depth of knowledge into a personal academy where children, adults, families, beginners, and competitors could all be taught with genuine attention.
As the academy outgrew its earlier space, students and parents stood with Prisma through a difficult transition and construction process. The move into a larger home was made possible by a community that believed in what was being built.
Today, Prisma is still defined by the same idea: Jiu-Jitsu is not only something we practice. It is a way to build confidence, responsibility, resilience, respect, and stronger relationships.
