Meet Leandro Vieira
Leandro began training in Rio at age 5 alongside his brothers Leo Vieira and Ricardo Vieira, earning gold at the 1999 Brazilian Nationals (blue) and a Worlds bronze in 2000 (purple).
In 2008 the brothers launched Checkmat, which rocketed from a garage project to a 200-school powerhouse crowned IBJJF world-team champion in 2021.
Drawn to California in 2012, Leandro became head BJJ coach at AKA–San Jose, sharpening the ground games of Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov
Today he channels that elite pedigree into Prisma Jiu-Jitsu—offering South-Bay families world-class instruction in a down-to-earth, community-driven academy.
